Our School Culture
Korowal School, named after the Aboriginal word meaning “to stand alone” or “the strong one”, reflects our commitment to independence and strength.
Founded in the Blue Mountains in 1978, Korowal is rooted in a human-centred philosophy that values every individual as equally capable and deserving of respect. We believe in empowering each person to solve problems and flourish.
We continue to build on these progressive educational foundations by creating learning experiences that actively engage students. Our approach challenges students to share ideas, consider multiple perspectives and develop critical and creative thinking skills. At Korowal, learning is shaped by meaningful interactions with each other and the communities in which we live, encouraging students to take responsibility for their education and play an active role in our learning community.
At Korowal, education is about more than exam results. We are committed to nurturing the whole person, helping students understand their unique learning processes and connecting their education to the world around them.
